Tension Bushings

Tension Bushings

Tension bushings, often referred to as split bushings or spring bushings, are rolled pins with a split that runs the length of the bushing and self-retain in a hole using their natural outward tension. Tension bushings act as a friction barrier between bored holes and the shafts that go into them. The gap in the bushing allows it to contract and expand when inserted. This expansion helps for a tight fit if the hole were to expand from normal wear. Chamfered ends make for easier installation and help prevent damage when inserting.
