Grease guns are critical in a lubricative application because they are the method through which your grease fitting receives the lubrication. To use a grease (or zerk) gun, you simply load it by suctioning or bulk grease loading the proper lubrication or inserting a cartridge into the hollow gun body. From there, there are a variety of accessories that help you modify the grease gun to fit your application needs.

Grease Guns for Lubrication Applications

Grease guns are easy to use and customize, are available in several different types, and offer a long-term, cost-efficient solution to service and maintain your equipment. These essential components apply and disperse lubrication in a controlled manner that keeps the lubrication point clean.
Grease guns are one of several grease fitting tools & tool parts that Huyett has to offer. Other lubrication tools include:
  • Grease Fitting Hoses: Nylon, rubber, or vinyl flexible connections between a grease gun and a grease coupler to help reach into tight or awkward spaces.
  • Grease Couplers: Gun attachments with internal jaws that snap over the zerk nipple and facilitate a smooth and controlled grease flow to the application.
  • Grease Fitting Tool Parts & Accessories: A category with a variety of couplers, pipe extensions, and other accessories.
  • Grease Fitting Tools: Mutli-tools and drive tools for installing and/or removing drive type and threaded zerks.
  • Oil Cans: Container for light oils and lower-viscosity lubricants used in general maintenance, like bicycle chains and door hinges.

Product Benefits

Huyett offers a selection of zerk guns that provide economical and versatile options for your application needs. Each type offers specific benefits to help you narrow down your choice of gun and its mating accessories.

What Are the Components of a Grease Gun?

There is a wide range of attachments and accessories that help expand a gun's versatility. These can largely be mixed and matched to customize the gun's usage for different applications. Components include:
  • Grease Gun Couplers: Attachments that connect to hose or pipe extensions and lock onto the grease zerk and provide a secure connection to transport the lubrication.
  • Hoses: Flexible connectors between the gun and the zerk to accommodate for hard-to-reach areas or awkward spaces.
  • Grease Fitting Parts and Accessories: This category of parts includes bleeder valves, pipe extensions, batters/chargers for cordless guns, barrels, bulk loader fittings gun sleeves, and more.
  • Grease Fitting Swivel Adapters: Moveable attachments that allow hoses to flex without kinking.

How to Attach a Grease Gun to a Zerk Nipple

First, attach the right grease coupler to the hose or pipe extension and then attach the entire component to the gun. Next, ensure the zerk fitting and the grease coupler are undamaged and free of contaminates so the connection is not hindered. Finally, set the coupler on the zerk at an angle and roll it onto the zerk nipple while pressing down. The coupler should lock into place.
To remove the grease coupler from the zerk, make sure there is no pressure between the two components (if this doesn't happen automatically, you can tilt the coupler at a slight angle to break the seal). If grease releases from the connection point, that's OK, as long as it is not overspill from the zerk fitting. Twist the coupler back and forth at a slight angle to release it from the nipple.
