Grease fitting adapters connect to zerk fittings, improving orientation or compatibility for grease gun access. These adapters extend, angle, or adjust the size of the grease fill point to make them accessible in tight or awkward spaces. Types of adapters include conventional ones for connecting larger fittings to smaller points, bushings for converting larger points to smaller ones, elbows for angled connections, extensions for better reach, and swivels for flexibility. Huyett offers a variety of adapters to accommodate different grease system needs, providing increased compatibility and versatility to a wide range of zerks and applications.

Grease Fitting Adapters

Grease fitting adapters (also known as zerk fitting adapters) are grease fill point attachments that connect to zerk fittings to provide better orientation or compatibility to the application. For example, if a zerk is placed in an awkward position that the grease gun can't reach, you can place an adapter at the fill point that will provide an extension or an angle for the fitting. Other types of adapters have a base that fits into the fill point and a head that fits a differently sized zerk, eliminating the need to resize a hole or purchase a different fitting size. Huyett offers several types of grease adapters:
  • Conventional adapters have a small threaded base that connects to the fill point and a large threaded head that connects to a larger sized zerk to make big fittings compatible with smaller fill points.
  • Bushings are designed to do the opposite and convert larger fill points into smaller connection points.
  • Elbows provide an angled connection point for the fitting for better access.
  • Extensions extend the fitting above the fill point to reach it better from tight or recessed spaces.
  • Swivel adapters grant mobility and flexibility without kinking the dispenser hose.
Grease fitting adapters are one of several types of lubrication system accessories available at Huyett. Others include:
  • Grease Fitting Caps: Prevent contamination and help organize maintenance plans by covering the fitting with different colored caps.
  • Header Blocks: Connect multiple grease points to a single-point lubricator so the user only needs to access one fill point, saving time and eliminating complexity.
  • Oil Hole Covers: Provide coverage for oil fill points with a spring lid.
  • Oil Cups: Provide fill point coverage and a small reservoir for slow, consistent lubrication.
  • Oil Reservoirs: Hold larger quantities of oil and are used as a central dispenser.
  • Oilers: Used as oil fill points and have a self-closing ball check to protect against dirt and debris.

Product Benefits

Fitting adapters for grease systems provide several advantages, including the following:
  • Increased Compatibility: Adapters provide extended, angled, and differently sized fill points to accommodate fittings you have on hand and provide better access to hard-to-reach areas.
  • Variety: Huyett's selection offers multiple types of adapters to help with a wide range of unique application needs.
  • Versatility: Most adapters are universal and work with a wide range of zerks, from standard grease fittings to button head or ball-type fittings and everything in between.

Purchase Considerations

Consider the following product characteristics before choosing the right adapter for your needs:
  • Male/Female Threads: Huyett's product line is available in male or female threads, with a wide range of thread sizes for both types, with a small selection of male threads in metric sizes.
  • Materials and Finishes: Shop our selection of steel adapters with zinc finishing, as well as adapters crafted from brass, carbon steel, stainless steel.

How to Extend Grease Fittings for Hard-To-Reach Places

Grease fitting extensions are used to provide additional clearance for grease fittings in hard-to-reach areas. They are designed with external threads on one end and a flare with internal threads on the other. To install an extension:
  1. Thread the non-flared end into the grease fitting hole of the mechanical part you are servicing.
  2. Thread the grease fitting into the flared end using a socket, wrench, or grease fitting multi tool.
  3. Tighten the fitting until the grease fitting and extension assembly are secure.
