Vent Fittings
Vent Fittings for Reliable Pressure Regulation
Vent fittings, also referred to as air vent fittings, are a type of pressure control fitting that control pressure buildup in a lubricated assembly by opening and closing in a pre-determined pressure range. As pressure increases, the internal rubber seal opens to allow air and gas pressure buildup to escape. As pressure returns to the desired threshold, the seal closes. The unique design of these components protects against moisture and debris from entering an assembly and ensures a proper fitting connection with drive type and threaded options.
Vent fittings are one of three types of
pressure control fittings in Huyett's product line. Pressure control fittings do not accept lubrication, but they regulate its pressure. Other types include:
- Relief Vent Fittings: Release excessive pressure with a self-regulated spring pop-up valve.
- Breather Fittings: Feature ports that allow air and gas to move in and out.
Product Benefits
These components offer several advantages, including:
- Self-Regulated Pressure Management: The vent closes and opens automatically based on a specific pressure range with no user intervention required.
- Contamination Protection: The internal rubber seal provides an additional layer of protection for the fitting against dirt, debris, water, and other contaminants.
- Easy Installation: The hex body on the threaded fittings allows for a simple and quick installation time. Drive type fittings are easily installed with a drive tool.
Purchase Considerations
When purchasing these components, evaluate the following product characteristics to ensure a secure connection and proper pressure regulation in your application:
- Thread Type: Huyett offers vent fittings with PTF SAE Short Taper and PTF Special Short Taper Thread pipe threads, as well as those with drive type threads.
- Material/Finish: This product line is available in steel with zinc finishing.
