Turnbuckle Bodies

Turnbuckle Body

A turnbuckle body is part of a 3-piece turnbuckle assembly, featuring a rectangular body with a tapped hole at each end. The tapped holes are threaded opposite of each other (one right-hand threaded and one left-hand threaded) to allow the buckle body to spin and draw in the end fittings to tack up slack or adjust tension between attached work pieces without the need to twist or spin any of the remaining components of the assembly.

  • Turnbuckle bodies with a longer take up length can take up more slack in a rigging assembly
  • U.S. Federal Specification FF-T-791B provides specifications for eight classes of turnbuckle components including untapped bodies, tapped bodies, stub/stub, eye/eye, hook/hook, jaw/jaw, eye/hook, and eye/jaw
  • Choose from galvanized steel, die-cast, or corrosion resistant stainless steel
  • Jam nuts can be used with end fittings to prevent loosening of the turnbuckle assembly in non-critical applications
  • Turnbuckles are not intended for lifting
