Ring Cotter Pins

Ring Cotter Pins

Ring cotter pins, also known as rue rings or ring cotters, are wire form locking mechanisms for clevis pins, hitch pins, rods, spindles, and other similar mating parts. They are installed by hand by threading the straight end through the hole of a pin or mating part until the loop surrounds the shank and locks it into place. Though already highly secure, the straight end can be bent to provide a nearly immovable lock feature. This type of cotter pin can be commonly found just about anywhere a pin or drilled part needs a very secure locking agent. Heavier duty options are available that use a thicker gauge of wire.
