Tab lock pins, commonly called wire lock pins or tab lock snap pins, are similar in design to hitch pins, but with the added feature of a pivoting spring wire attached at the head. The retaining wire design incorporates a protruding tab that acts as a lever for easy removal and reinstallation and installation of the pin. These pins are not recommended for use in applications that subject the pin to lateral forces and protrusion of the tab should be considered when selecting a pin type.
