Drill rod is round, precision ground bar stock that is polished to tight tolerances. In its raw state it is considered unhardened, or soft, allowing for easier machining. Drill rod can be used to form a variety of tools used for woodworking, engraving, machining, and more. After drill rod has been machined into its desired form, it may be heat treated then drawn back to the required hardness.
