Self-Retained Nuts

Self-Retained Nuts
The Huyett catalog of self-retaining threaded nuts includes cage nuts, Speed Nut® U-nuts, expansion nuts, and rivet nuts. Self-retaining nuts are designed to provide a secure, threaded connection for thin panels and blind fastening applications.- Cage nuts require access to the back of the panel for placement and provide a strong point of attachment for a screw or bolt to prevent disassembly of mating panels.
- ARaymond Tinnerman Speed Nut® U-nuts provide a quick and simple attachment point on panel edges. Also called U-shaped or Tinnerman nuts, Speed Nut® U-nuts are light weight, reliable fasteners that provide a simple, low cost alternative to traditional mechanical fasteners. Speed nut varieties include single threaded nuts, tapped barrel u-nuts, and self threading stamped palnuts.
- Expansion nuts, also called snap-in nuts, come with either a tapped barrel or a single stamped impression and only requires access to one side of the panel to simplify installation (blind applications). The legs of the nuts expand behind the panel to hold the expansion nut in place while still providing a serviceable joint.
- Rivet nuts, or blind thread inserts, are inserted into thin, brittle, or tubed material providing a strong, threaded alternative where a tapped hole is not suitable.
